Gypsum board has been widely applied to wall, ceiling and partition in the timber construction as one of the fire preventive material. Another performance requirements for the structural wall composed of gypsum board should be to resist against the lateral forces subjected to wind or seismic load. However, very limited experimental qualitative information is pertaining to relationship between property of gypsum board and structural performance of shear wall. This paper firstly shows the results of strength and stiffness of shear wall composed of three types of gypsum board (regular, higher density and fiber reinforce high density) and then the results obtained from the single shear test for nailed joints, which could be correlated the structural performance of the full-sized wall components. On the basis of the results obtained from the experiments the following could be concluded that the density of gypsum board effects the shear strength of wall and the strength is clearly effected due to the fastener, nail and screw, and the yield strength of wall could be estimated on the basis of the data obtained from the shingle shear test objected to the nailed or screw joints.
